Richland One employees have donated $20,000 to the American Red Cross to assist Haitian earthquake victims, helping the local chapter to reach a milestone in providing aid to those in need.

At a news conference this morning, Richland One superintendent Dr. Percy Mack presented the check to Scott R. Salemme, Regional CEO of the American Red Cross of Central South Carolina.

“This check breaks the $1 million mark for people supporting Haitian relief efforts in this community,” said Salemme.

The donations stem from Richland One’s “3 for 3″ employee giving campaign which started on February 2. Employees were asked to give $3 for three designated pay periods in February and March.

“I want to thank all members of the Richland One family for their support,” said Dr. Mack. “When our employees see a need they step forward and make things happen. This check comes from the hearts of those in Richland One, including businesses that helped to support this effort with their donations.”
